(4666) Secondary flow, Two discharge, or Cutback irrigation
A method of applying water to the border strips or corrugations whereby, before the water reaches the end of the run, the head flow rate is reduced to avoid an excess of runoff, yet maintain soaking over the length of the run. The initial flow is called `attack flow` and the final flow is called `maintenance flow`.
